Indulge your taste buds

For many cheese lovers, there's nothing more satisfying than indulging in the soft creamy taste of Gouda — a simple pleasure that is a time-honoured tradition.

Gort's Gouda Cheese farm has a rich history and its owners an abundance of expertise. Making cheese is part of owners Arie and Anneke Gort's Dutch culture, and part of the Gort family history. In 1855, Arie's great grandfather was recognized for his quality cheese when he received a silver medal for his Sweet Mild Cheese in Rotterdam, Holland.

"It takes years of perfecting temperature and ingredients. Experience makes a good cheese," says Arie. And experience is what Arie and Anneke brought with them from the Netherlands a quarter century ago.

Tour their farm, factory and store in Salmon Arm, British Columbia. Sample a smooth Gouda enhanced with blended herbs and garlic or try a full-bodied, robust Gouda. The perfect match can be found for even the most selective tastebuds. Gort's Gouda Cheese farm also offers Maasdammer (leerdammer) cheese, feta cheese, Quark (a fresh, soft, tangy-tasting German cream cheese) and fresh Bulgarian yogurt made the old fashioned way — hung in cloth bags to thicken with no preservatives added.

Arie and Anneke invite you to experience the renowned Dutch tradition of making cheese. You'll taste the difference.
